Ciao Italia - Perth, Western Australia

Ciao Italia is one of the best Italian Restaurant in Perth. By just looking at the crowd, you can tell how good the business is. We were there around 5pm and crowds already started queuing outside the restaurant. We were lucky to get a table for seven as it's a small restaurant. Staff were all very warm, friendly and worked in a very fast paced environment.

We ordered soup of the day which was mushroom soup, fettuccine, linguine, spaghetti bologneseScaloppine Ai Funghi and Carnivora pizza. Highlight dish of the night was fettuccine. It's creamy, flavourful and cooked al dente. In other words cooked just long enough that it is neither too hard or soft. Fettuccine (Ciao Italia) comes with tender chicken strips, mushrooms, sun dried tomato, spring onions and fresh diced tomatoes in a creamy white sauce.

There's 4 types of spaghetti for you to choose from and we ended up with Bolognese. It was a normal pasta, nothing special about it. However, the portion was huge!
a) Marinara - a seafood mix of marinated prawns, mussels, fish chunks and calamari rings cooked in a rich tomato sauce
b) Carbonara - bacon, egg and cream cheese sauce
c) Bolognese - a rich meaty Italian sauce with minced beef
d) Vongole - baby clams cooked with chopped tomatoes, chilli, garlic and extra virgin olive oil

My least favourite was the Scaloppine Ai Funghi comes with baby beef and fresh mushrooms pan fried in a creamy white wine sauce served with mixed vegetables. I like the fresh mushrooms but not the baby beef. Somehow, the baby beef tasted so-so for me.

There's no better way to end the night with 2 slices of tiramisu! We ordered original and green tea flavour. Since I'm not a green tea lover, I preferred the original flavour tiramisu. It's moist, smooth and creamy. Best dessert to end the night!
